Yet another lean deer season
Nov 12th, 2006 by darryl
As you may know, I took off last week to go on my annual deer hunt. This year, Dad was able to see two different deer on Monday and Tuesday morning, but unfortunately missed both. The first deer he missed was about 150 yards away and we figured it was because he hadn’t touched the rifle since last year. However, after he missed the second deer at about 25 yards on Tuesday morning, we realized something else was afoot. Apparently, the rifle we didn’t bother to sight in since last year had a loose sight on it, and it was shooting way off. Once I got that fixed and resighted in, we of course didn’t see any more deer during the week. Doh! No venison due to a loose screw on the gun. Oh well, the plan is for next year to replace the rifle with a different one that isn’t a) overkill and b) much lighter to carry, and Dad will practice with it before the season next year.
Get a black powder gun and come out with us in December… Should be a blast… Hopefully…
use a bow, it typicaLLy does not have that issue
Depends on the bow, but yes a very simple bow would avoid this issue. However, some of the bow’s on the market now are more complicated than a rifle which I find ironic.
